Furthermore, travelers could venture further out to Mount Ararat where they could explore one of biblical history’s most iconic mountains or take a tour through traditional villages in rural Anatolia where they could observe local customs that have been practiced for centuries. The government of Turkey was a unitary parliamentary constitutional republic led by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan since 2003 after he was elected by popular vote. The country also had a multi-party system with legislative power vested in both the government and Parliament with unicameral parliamentary system composed of 550 members elected for four-year terms from constituencies across Turkey with an additional 8 seats appointed by the President through special interests such as women or people with disabilities or youth representatives.
